During installation, the tape is centered below two trimmed carpet edges, with the hot melt adhesive facing upward. A carpet seaming iron softens the adhesive, and both carpet backings are pressed into the melted glue while the seam is still warm. When the tape stays centered under the joint, the adhesive can transfer more evenly into both backing edges.

The structure is built for heat bond carpet work. Kraft paper helps the roll stay flat when pulled out and heated, reducing curling during installation.
