Preparing the Surface
Before applying extra strong double-sided tape to secure your rug to bricks, it’s essential to prepare the surface properly. Start by cleaning the brick area where you plan to place the rug. Use a brush or vacuum to remove any dust, dirt, or debris that might prevent the tape from adhering effectively.
Once the surface is clean, inspect the bricks for any moisture. It’s crucial that the bricks are dry, as moisture can weaken the adhesive properties of the tape. If necessary, allow the surface to air dry completely before proceeding with the taping process.
Applying the Tape

After the surface is ready, cut the double-sided tape into strips that are suitable for the size of your rug. Consider placing the tape along the edges and in the center of the rug for maximum hold. This strategic placement will ensure that the rug stays securely in place, even with regular foot traffic.

Peel off one side of the backing from the tape and stick it directly to the clean, dry brick surface. Press firmly to make sure it adheres well. After securing the tape to the bricks, peel off the other side of the backing and carefully place your rug on top, pressing down to ensure a strong bond.
Maintaining the Bond
To maintain the effectiveness of the double-sided tape, periodically check the edges of the rug to ensure it remains securely attached. Over time, the tape may lose its adhesion due to wear or environmental factors. If you notice any lifting, simply clean the area again and reapply new strips of tape as needed.
Additionally, avoid using excessive moisture when cleaning the rug, as this can also affect the tape’s ability to hold. Instead, opt for a dry or slightly damp cloth to clean the rug without compromising the bond between the tape and the bricks.
